Fireworks Burn Pool Liner, Car Crashes Into Curb

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, July 5 11:31 a.m. – A Main Street resident reported as many as 75 sections of wrought iron fence were stolen from the side of her house sometime between Monday and Thursday morning. The fence sections had been leaning up against the north side of her house. 1:42 p.m. – A Frenchtown Road resident told police a neighbor’s fireworks the previous night had fallen into his pool and damaged the liner. Police saw evidence of heavy fireworks debris in the pool, on his roof, and in his yard, as well as burn marks in the pool. Police spoke to a teenage resident of the people who live next door and told her to alert her parents to the damage. Friday, July 6 7:27 a.m. – Kenneth B. Out-of-Reach Cell Phone And A Costly Lost Dog

Monday, July 2 9:04 a.m. – Police arrested Roy A. St. Lawrence, 43, of Mill Road in Johnston, for driving with an expired license after he was stopped for speeding on Middle Road near Tillinghast Road. He was cited for speeding and given a district court summons. An aquaintance arrived to drive the truck from the scene. 1:35 p.m. – The manager of Mary Lou’s Coffee on South County Trail reported an employee took a money bag with $177 in it, an action caught on video. The manager said the bag was left on the counter overnight by mistake. In the morning, an employee came in, saw the bag, placed a sweatshirt over it and then took the bundle out to her car. Wednesday, June 27 2:49 p.m. – A resident of Ann Drive told police he was moving out of state and wanted to turn in an old rifle he’d been given 25 years ago. Police took possession of the rifle. 4:34 p.m. – Police cited a Coventry woman for driving a car with no license plates after they saw her driving west on Division Road near Shippeetown Road. The plates had been seized by Coventry Police. The woman told police she thought she had a month to deal with the problem. That was incorrect so police had the car towed. They also noted several defects with the car, including bald back tires, bad brake pads, an exhaust pipe help up with coat hangers, a driver’s door that could only be opened from the outside and broken turn signals. Dinghy Theft, Nakedness And Missing Oriental Rugs

Wednesday, June 20 11:33 a.m. — A Narragansett man reported a rug valued at $25,000 had gone missing while under consignment at a store in East Greenwich. The rug may have been sold, according to the store’s owner, but she said some paperwork was lost in a fire. 2:30 p.m. — A town employee notified police about damage to a curb at Mawney and Friendship streets after a cement truck backed over it. The driver of the truck said he’d already talked to his boss and repairs would be made to the curb. 4:23 p.m. — The owner of a small inflatable dinghy reported it was moved from a dock at Greenwich Cove Marina and found floating near the Greenwich Bay Yacht Club, but without its outboard motor. 5:08 p.m. – Police arrested Peter Crosby, 43, of …
