Wednesday, Jan 30 10:09 a.m. – Police arrested Michael Langley, 21, of Providence Street in West Warwick, for evading a taxi bill on Dec. 27, 2012. He was arraigned at Kent County Courthouse and sentenced to one year suspended sentence/probation and restitution of the cab driver. He was also sentenced to 30 days at the ACI for probation violation. 11:12 a.m. – The collections manager for Newport Biodiesel told police someone had been stealing from vegetable oil grease collection bins at various businesses, including two bins at 1000 Division Street since Dec. 1. Between the two collection bins, he estimated approximately 800 gallons of grease have been stolen. Newport Biodiesel pays Dave’s $1.40 a gallon for the grease and sells it for …

Monday, July 23 8:49 a.m. – A tree fell on an unoccupied car parked at the lot above the town boat ramp. Police tried to reach the owner of the car, who was identified through the car’s registration, but no one answered. A guard rail and a fence between the lot and a house on Crompton Avenue were also damaged by the tree. 9:03 p.m. – A car struck a deer on Middle Road west of Mawney Brook Road and left the area. The deer remained the roadway and appeared to be in pain so the police used a shotgun to euthanize the animal. Tuesday, July 24 7:49 a.m. – Police got a report of a possibly rabid raccoon in the area of Howland Road and Dalehill Drive. Monday, April 9 3:24 p.m. — Police assisted EGFD Rescue after they were told two people were on the ground at the water’s edge at the base of the Barbara Tufts Playground on Crompton Avenue. One of the people, a North Kingstown woman, was seated by the time police arrived, but the other person, a West Warwick man, was passed out still. Once woken, the man appeared to be very drunk. He was taken by rescue to Kent Hospital for detox. Tuesday, April 10 7:24 p.m. — Police served no-trespass orders to two men living on Adirondack Drive following a request by a resident of Cindy Ann Drive. Police say the youths will be charged with underage drinking
In what police describe as a “massive” house party Wednesday night, 27 juveniles were detained for underage possession of alcohol. The house, at 264 Kent Drive, is owned by Akhil Gupta. According to police, no parents were home at the time of the party. Both EG and North Kingstown Police were involved in rounding up the youths, which lasted three hours by the time parents were notified and safe trips home were arranged for all the youths. "In this case it was a massive party," said Fague. "There were kids hiding in closets, in the basement...."
