Cassandra Albergaria positively exudes enthusiasm. It's paid off in her quest to be the next host for The Rhode Show. One of five finalists, Albergaria will find out Monday, Dec. 10, if she gets the nod. Albergaria, born and raised in South Kingstown, lives in Cranston. But she works at Coleman Realtors in East Greenwich and we met last Thursday at the Holiday Stroll. Albergaria was canvassing many of the shops on Main Street to tell them about The Rhode Show contest and to encourage them to vote for her. "I love just popping into all the stores on Main Street," she said Monday. It's a big week for Albergaria. On Thursday she co-hosts the show, complete with ear piece and teleprompter. The East Greenwich resident is one of five finalists in the Fox TV show’s annual “Search for a Star” competition.
Mary Larsen had been tempted before to try The Rhode Show’s annual “Search for a Star” competition but had held back. In October, she took the plunge, showing up at Twin River Casino with about 100 others to audition for a chance to co-host the morning show on Fox TV for one year. “You had to wait your turn. It was kind of like 'American Idol'-style, where you had to wait and get all excited and nervous and chat with everyone,” says Larsen, who lives off Division Street and grew up in Cowesett.
