The two were arraigned for the robbery at the East Side Mart at Shell on South County Trail Monday; a third man was charged in the Exeter robberies.
East Greenwich, North Kingstown and State Police have connected multiple robberies in Exeter, North Kingstown and East Greenwich to three South County men. Authorities had been searching for suspects in the robberies, which began Sunday night at the Shell Station on Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown. Hours later at around 5 a.m., one of the suspects reportedly robbed another Shell mini-mart in East Greenwich. According to reports from the East Greenwich Police Department, the suspect was a white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bandana to cover his face. He handed the clerk a note demanding money. Police are calling the incident, which took place at around 5 a.m. Monday, a "strong-arm robbery."
A cashier at the East Side Food Mart Shell at 2563 South County Trail was held up at around 5 a.m. Monday, police report. The suspect walked into the store and handed the cashier a note that demanded cash, according to Det. Lieutenant Jay Fague. "He did not speak a word. He was in and out in a couple of minutes." Fague called it a strong-arm robbery – no weapon was shown but the suspect had a hand in one of his pockets as if armed. The person was so covered that it wasn't completely clear it was a man, although the cashier said she thought so based on the suspect's eyes. Police are describing the suspect as "an unknown male." With 128 votes cast, L&S gets 30 percent.
Good news: when it comes to auto repair in East Greenwich, several spots in town seem to have earned the loyalty of residents. Top among them is L&S Automotive on Post Road. "I tried L&S and never looked back. They are honest and reasonable. It's never a great experience to have to have car work done, but at least it helps knowing that I'm not getting ripped off," commented EC. L&S got 39 votes, or 30 percent of the total 128 votes.
