The caller said it was because state police failed to bring criminal charges against the driver who rear-ended Sully Sanchez in EG last fall, killing her and her unborn baby.
Rhode Island State Police Col. Steven O'Donnell has issued a request asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who called the Warren Police Department and threatened state officers. According to O'Donnell, the caller contacted the Warrent department on Feb. 8, the day after Benjamin Servideo, 24, of Newport, pleaded guilty to two traffic violations stemming from a fatal car accident in East Greenwich. Rhode Island Atty. Gen. Peter Kilmartin and the state police declined to file criminal charges against Servideo in the accident, which killed Sullynette Sanchez, 23, of Providence. Benjamin Servideo, 24, of Newport, loses his license for 8 months and must perform 100 hours of community service for the fatal accident on Route 4 in East Greenwich Sept. 29, 2012, the Providence Journal reported Tuesday. He must also pay a fine and attend a driver retraining program. The accident caused the deaths of both Sullynette Sanchez and her baby, delivered after Sanchez had died from her injuries. The driver in a fatal crash on Route 4 in East Greenwich on Sept. 29, 2012, pleaded guilty to two traffic violations Thursday morning at the R.I. Traffic Tribunal in Cranston. Benjamin Servideo, 24, of Newport, will be sentenced on Feb. 26 for failing to respond to conditions requiring reduced speed and failing to maintain control of his car. A third violation, failing to maintain adequate space between vehicles, was dropped. Servideo's car rear-ended the car driven by Sullynette Sanchez, 23, of Providence, who was 8 months pregnant. The family of Sullynette Sanchez, the 23-year-old pregnant woman who was killed in a fatal accident on Route 4 two weeks ago, told NBC 10 on Tuesday the baby who was born after the crash has died. Two-week-old Daryel Sanchez died Tuesday morning at Women and Infants Hospital, family members said. Rhode Island State Police are looking for a pair of good Samaritans who gave CPR to 23-year-old Sullynette Sanchez on Friday, Sept. 28, after an accident on Route 4 in East Greenwich. Sullynette "Sully" Sanchez, 23, died Friday, Sept. 28, from injuries received in a three-car accident on Route 4 in East Greenwich. She leaves behind the love of her life Steven J. Bustamante and their newborn son Daryel. Born in Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of Ramonita Cortes of Providence and the late Ferdinand Sanchez. Sully graduated from Cooley Health and Science Technical Academy in Providence in 2007. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2011 and had been working in the URI Admissions office. Sully is also survived by a sister, Suzette Sanchez; two nieces, Soriah and Angelina, and many other dear relatives and friends. The investigation continues into the crash on Route 4 in East Greenwich resulting in the death in Sanchez and the birth of her baby boy Friday.
Three days after Sullynette Sanchez was rear-ended in a Route 4 accident that ended her life and prompted the emergency delivery of her baby, there is little new information on the actual crash, but at least three fundraisers have already been established to benefit the baby, the baby's father, and to help cover funeral costs for Sanchez. The three-car accident took place around 4 p.m. Friday on Route 4 in East Greenwich. The accident on Route 4 in East Greenwich Friday afternoon that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Sullynette Sanchez and the premature birth of her baby may have been caused by a driver who was distracted, State Police said Sunday. According to a story in the Providence Journal, one of the drivers in the three-car accident may have been distracted by a wallet that had fallen to the floor before he rear-ended Sanchez's car. State Police Lt. Douglas Newberg said that the driver, who had not yet made a formal statement to police, mentioned that to paramedics. The baby born after its mother was involved in a three-car accident on Route 4 Friday is in intensive care at Women & Infants, according to a statement from URI. Sullynette Sanchez, who worked at URI, was pronounced dead at Kent Hospital Friday. The crash, which took place around 4 p.m. Friday just south of the Frenchtown Road (Route 403) overpass, is still under investigation by the R.I. State Police. According to the statement from URI, Sanchez, known as Sully, graduated from URI in 2011 and worked in the unversity's admissions office. "We are deeply saddened by the loss," the statement said.
