[VIDEO] EG Gains Three New Patrolmen

Matthew Larsson, Matthew Cordle and Matthew White were sworn in at the Town Council meeting Monday.

After nearly two years, the EG Police Department will soon have a full complement of officers, following the swearing in Monday night of three probationary patrolman: Matthew Larsson, Matthew Cordle, and Matthew White. While they are on probation, they will ride with another officer, so the force will not be back to full complement until the end of February, according to Police Chief Tom Coyle. He noted, in his remarks to the Town Council before the officers were sworn in, that all three men had bachelor's degrees.  The process to fill positions left by retirements began 18 months ago. [VIDEO] Town Officials Sworn In

Town Council members re-elect Michael Isaacs as president, and they elect Jeff Cianciolo as vice president.

Michael Isaacs was elected to serve as president of the EG Town Council for the five term in a row and Jeff Cianciolo was voted in as vice president in back-to-back 5-0 votes at Monday night's swearing in ceremony at Swift Community Center.  Cianciolo and Michael Kiernan both nominated Isaacs for the post, noting his diligence and work ethic.  Cianciolo was nominated by Michael Isaacs, but again, that was seconded by Michael Kiernan.  There were many familiar faces at Monday night's swearing in ceremony. That's because there were only two people new to elected office, School Committee members Carolyn Mark and Clark Smith. But that didn't mean any less pomp. Five Things: Swearing In Ceremony

Newly elected officials sworn in tonight: Town and school officials elected on Nov. 6 will be sworn in tonight at a ceremony at Swift Community Center at 7 p.m. The Town Council will then convene briefly to elect a president. Michael Isaacs has been president for the last three terms; he won re-election again with the largest vote margin. Other members of the Town Council to be sworn in tonight are Brad Bishop, Jeff Cianciolo, Michael Kiernan, and Mark Gee. Two new members will be sworn into the School Committee tonight, along with current Committee Chair Deidre Gifford, who won re-election on Nov. 6. The new members are Carolyn Mark and Clark Smith. The School Committee will not convene tonight. All are invited to attend the ceremony. …
