Winter’s Eve at EG Free Library: The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library proudly present Winter's Eve, the 2nd Annual Juried Art Exhibit & Concert. The opening reception will showcase the work of some of R.I.'s finest artists selected for the exhibit by juror and R.I. artist Mimo Gordon Riley.The evening will include a presentation of the Juror's Award and a concert by the Hummingbird Trio, a talented female group singing big band, jazz, and swing songs from the ‘30s, ‘40s and beyond! Wine and sweet/savory hors d'oeuvres will be served. All are welcome and it’s free! Turkey Trot $8,000 Donation, Symposium Book Club & More

Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, Dec 21.

Turkey Trot Update: Organizers of the hugely successful Turkey Trot last month presented an $8,000 check to Food Cupboard managers Steve and Chris Bartlett last week - far exceeding the $2,000 they’d hoped to raise. Amy Moore, who together with Michelle Clark, put the Turkey Trot together, also said that shirts for those who did not receive them on race day will be available after Christmas. The chickens have landed! Pat McNiff’s chickens have arrived at Boesch Farm and are settling in. According to McNiff, “The chickens are extremely happy with their new home.” The rest of McNiff’s animals - dairy cows, sheep and pigs - are due to move in sometime in January. McNiff is the new tenant farmer at the town-owned property. Library storytime …

Ideas For A Summer Day

Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, August 10.

Summer days are counting down (sorry!). Here are a few ideas for how to occupy a few of them: Beach it, locally. Sandy Point is a lovely spot in Potowomut (technically not part of EG but shouldn’t it be?) at the end of Ives Road. In the old days, we’re told, there was a snack shop there and everything. These days, it’s just a strip of beach with a small parking lot, surrounded by houses. That small parking lot’s the catch. So, if you’re worried about finding an open spot, see if you can get dropped off there. Or you could ride bikes. This is the perfect place for those days you want beach time but can’t devote a whole day. Berry picking. You don’t have to go far to pick your own berries.
