A video made to announce Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., earlier this month has been removed from YouTube following a complaint by a blogger for Rhode Island Patch sites. The video – which featured audio from speeches by Pres. Obama and Gov. Chafee – had ended with a list of references, including “www.gov.ri.gov.” Blogger Rene Lafayette wrote, "This is a clear violation of partisan, political use of publicly funded resources," in a blog posted on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Christine Hunsinger, Chafee's spokeswoman, said Thursday the video was made by James Alvarez, who works in the governor's communications office. In May, we put out a call for bloggers and heard from a few of you. Today, we have three regular bloggers - Divya Mahadevan, Mike Bottaro and Rachel Morley. We want more! And we suspect there are a few more blogger-types out there. What is blogging? It’s writing in your voice about something you are passionate about - fishing, for instance, cars, nature, health, relationships. There are lots of possibilities. One person I talked to about blogging said she wasn’t a good writer. Here’s what I say about that: blogs are essentially a way of talking through the written word.
