Obituary: Nicholas L. Amato, 87

He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the Pacific.

Nicholas L. Amato, 87, passed away March 21 at home. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwendoline (Jones) Amato. Born in East Greenwich, he was a son of the late Rocco and Rose (Denice) Amato. Mr. Amato retired from Bostitch after 30 years of service. He later worked daughter and son-in-law's business, the former South County Antiques. He was a WWII Army Veteran who served in the Pacific and a sharp shooter 2nd class gunner. Besides his wife he is survived by sons David B. and Derrick Amato and daughter Rose D. Boughton, four grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral service takes place Monday at 11 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St. Burial with full military honors will be in R.I. Obituary: Robert R. Barbour, Sr., 82

He was a self-employed shell fisherman.

Robert R. Barbour, Sr., 82, a longtime resident of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 23. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janice C. (Nichols) Barbour. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late James and Mae (Cody) Barbour. Mr. Barbour was a self-employed shell fisherman. He was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Thunderbirds 179th Infantry Division. He was a member of King Solomon F & AM and a passed member of the Kentish Guards. Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Robert R. Barbour, Jr., and his wife, Marilyn, Rebecca J. Barbour, and Susan J. Barbour; his grandchildren, Daniel R. and Sarah R.; and a brother Arland R. Obituary: Marliese Ulrike Franek

Originally from East Prussia, Marliese came to the U.S. as a Fulbright scholar and settled with her husband in East Greenwich.

Surrounded by family, Marliese Ulrike Franek passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012. Marliese was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno J. Franek, MD, and her daughter, Alexandra Franek. She is survived by her children, Cornelia Hodosh and her husband Alex; Clemens Franek; Sabina Dougherty and her husband Patrick; Christine Gray and her husband Tim; and by her grandchildren, Alexis Franek; Patrick, Liam, and Nicole Dougherty; Sarah and Benjamin Hodosh; Aria and Gunnar Franek. Originally from East Prussia, Marliese came to the United States as a Fulbright scholar, completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont and conducting graduate research in botany at the University of Rhode Island.
