Alan Weiss, PhD, Neighbor

I'm a 27-year resident of East Greenwich (in other words, "new"), having moved here with my wife of 43 years from the New York area. Unbelievably, my daughter and her husband moved here from New York not long ago with our twin granddaughters, who live ten minutes way. I'm the former chair of the town Planning Board, and have also chaired the Newport International Film Festival, and been on the boards of Trinity Rep, GAMM Theater, Elizabeth Buffen Chace House, Festival Ballet, and other non-profits. My wife serves on the boards of Festival Ballet and the RISD Associates. Our white German Shepherd is Koufax (named after the greatest pitcher in history) and our Beagle is Buddy. We dine out seven nights a week (that is not a misprint) and fortunately there are wonderful restaurants here to support that habit. We freqently go to New York for the theater and dinner. We believe THE CITY is New York and the city is Providence. We're still astounded when someone in Cranston asks what we're doing "way over there."
