JFK: Sharing Memories Of 50 Years Ago

It's been 50 years since that terrible day in Dallas when President John F. Kennedy was gunned down while riding in a convertible, waving and smiling that big smile of his. As the years pass, there are fewer people who actually remember day.

Here are a couple of recollections gathered from EG Patch's Facebook page. (If you have a memory or would like to say what JFK means to you, please share in the comments section below.):

"Pregnant with first child and about to join my spouse for a three-year hitch in the Army. As a senior in college, my friends and I caught his appearance downtown when he was campaigning for President (not old enough to vote, but old enough to be enthusiastic ... and young enough to be up early and right down front) Also remember the day Oswald was killed, the day Robert Kennedy was killed, and the day King was killed. My spouse also met John Jr. When he was at Brown. Lots of Kennedy stories in our family. Lots of Irish/American stories..."

"I was at Cranston High School West in a history class when they made the announcement over the PA system that the president was shot. They had not said he had died yet. It was around lunchtime when it happened. Even as young adults we were speechless."
David M. Gesualdi
