According to an employee of the store, Williams had been acting suspiciously and a review of the surveillance video showed her putting a handbag inside her own purse and leaving the store. The employee called Williams and told her what she saw on the video, at which point Williams admitted taking the purse, according to the report. Williams was arrested and charged with shoplifting as well as one count of habitual offender for having three or more previous shoplifting or larceny convictions.

7:07 a.m. – Police arrested William P. Fuerth, 59, of King Street, for disorderly conduct after an East Greenwich woman complained Fuerth was harassing her. She said he was going through her trash and leaving her notes. When police went to Fuerth’s apartment to talk to him, he yelled at them aggressively, throwing something at one of the officers. Two officers had to take physical control of Fuerth to take him into custody. All the while, he was shouting obscenities at the officers. At the station, he continued to be uncooperative, according to the report. Eventually, he calmed down and was processed, then taken to court. A no-trespass order was issued to Fuerth for the EG woman’s property.

4:11 p.m. – Police arrested James Deacon, 49, of Krzak Road in North Kingstown, for failing to stop after being involved in an accident. A North Kingstown woman told police she was rear-ended while she was stopped in traffic in the southbound left lane on Main Street just south of First Avenue. The driver of the car that hit her, a maroon Ford Taurus, reversed, changed lanes and continued driving south, the woman told police. She gave police the license plate number of the car, which was traced to Deacon. Police notified NK police, and joined them at Deacon’s home. Deacon told police he was sorry and shouldn’t have left the scene.
