Council Finishes Interviews Of 7 Town Manager Candidates

Council President Michael Isaacs says a vote on a new town manager will be on the Oct. 7 agenda.

The Town Council has met with seven men – the candidates are all male – to fill the position of town manager. A vote on a new manager could come at the council's next meeting, Oct. 7, according to Council President Michael Isaacs.

The names of the candidates have not been made public, but interim Town Manager Tom Coyle – EG's police chief – has said he's among the applicants.

Isaacs said he realizes some communities make the selection process more public, but that some of the applicants requested anonymity because of their current jobs.

"We feel confident that we have very good candidates," he said. "The Council has no plans for further interviews. I think we are ready to vote on October 7."

Bill Sequino, town manager for East Greenwich for 25 years, retired in June. Coyle has been serving as interim since that time.
