VIDEO: Schools Pay Tribute to 9/11 Anniversary
The elementary schools found different ways to recognize the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001
Approaching this weekend is the 10-year Anniversary of the tragic events that unfolded on Sept. 11, 2001. One theme that was common amongst schools this week was celebrating heroes and coming together as a nation.
"We want to focus on the positive aspects of heroes and remembrance during this time," said Principal Dr. Ron Areglado of Meadowbrook Farms. "It is too difficult for the young ones to comprehend these events and too much tragedy to go into detail. It's not appropriate for this age."
Dr. A decided to have a remembrance celebration at his school with saying the Pledge of Allegiance, the school pledge, some words about Sept. 11, a moment of silence and patriotic song. The ceremony took place outside the school on the first nice sunny day of the school year. Many of the staff and students were dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate the event.
